It wasn’t easy, and the team had to be innovative in their approach, especially when the ground started to collapse when digging new holes for the poles. We ended up purchasing 1m diameter culverts to HydroVac down into the ground, which then left the hole open ready for the pole to be placed and backfilled with metal.
This $640K project has increased the capacity of the Ruakākā Marsden Point Feeder and Bream Bay Marsden South Feeder. Due to us replacing the end of life wooden poles and removing the double 11kV circuit on the single structure, we’ve now reduced the number of customers that will be without power when maintenance is needed and provided a safe working environment for our staff.
