This has led to benefiting our study’s with the ability to have large group study sessions throughout the semesters, and creating a cadet network that has great communication and discussions expanding outside our individual regions.
During the time not at MIT I have been working my way through an exposure rotation throughout the different parts of the Hamilton depot's team. So far I have had the privilege to see some awesome project and maintenance work throughout distribution electrical services (ES) and linemen as well as transmission Substation work. These exposures included jointing, pillar and transformer replacement with ES. Reconductoring, pole and cross arm replacement with the linemen. Protection and HMI upgrades and substation maintenance checks with Transmission substations.
Throughout these projects and jobs I have been able to assist the crews and build knowledge on the practical task at hand including the reason behind certain tasks, testing and safety precautions, isolation, standards and procedures and the importance behind them all.
Throughout all of my experiences helping various crews in the field everyone I have come across has been extremely friendly and super helpful towards building my connection between the theoretical information taught in class and the practical workings within the electrical industry. And for this I would like to thank everyone that has given me the privilege to work beside them and learn and gain knowledge from them.
