We are making great progress on the construction of our $6.6 million Maunu substation and remain on track to have it operating by Christmas.
75% of the building is now complete and in August we will start on the electrical work – for the engineers among our readers this includes 33kV and 11kV switchgear along with the installation of a 10MVA transformer (that is enough to supply electricity to 5,000 houses).
The Maunu substation will cater for residential growth in and around the wider Maunu area in years to come
It will also provide an alternative electricity supply for Whangarei Hospital and the CBD, providing a more resilient network.
