We are preparing for more housing growth in and around Onerahi, so we have been upgrading our substation to improve the security and reliability of electricity supply to the area.
So far, we have invested $1.3 million to replace two 39-year-old transformers with new transformers with double the capacity – to handle current and future peak electricity demand in the area.

One transformer is already in use and the other has been installed but is yet to be commissioned.
The total project will cost $1.8 million and the new transformers comply with current health and safety, technical and environmental standards, which is really important to us.
