Northpower are the proud recipients of a Special Commendation Award at the 2018 Safeguard New Zealand Workplace Health and Safety Awards.
The judges' Special Commendation Award was presented to Northpower as recognition of the collaborative creation process that took place in bringing our four behaviours to life, and the improvements made in communicating and engaging with our people.
Our behaviours demonstrate who we are when we're at our best. They're simple words with a depth of meaning, that depict the actions we're seeing every day in the office and out on our worksites.
The judges' comments when presenting the award were:
A highly consultative programme looking at four key behaviours, pictorial and carved representations of them, and storytelling opportunities to allow staff to better understand their role in the collective community.
On hand to collect the award was the team involved in bringing the behaviours to life through the medium of carving (whaikaro).
Vern Rosieur, our long-serving Safety and Human Resources Field Manager received the award on behalf of Northpower, and is pictured delivering a moving acceptance speech.
The New Zealand Workplace Health and Safety awards began in 2005, and are organised by Safeguard Magazine and proudly supported by Worksafe New Zealand.
The awards are judged by a panel representing Worksafe, ACC, NZ Council of Trade Unions, Safeguard, and an industry health and safety practitioner.
Fellow award recipients included Air New Zealand, Coca Cola Amatil New Zealand, Connetics, Napier Port and Unitec.
