Northpower is currently working on a three year project awarded by Transpower to replace 89 spans (around 45km) of Skunk earthwire over four circuits on the Henderson - Marsden transmission line in North Auckland.
The strategic importance of this transmission line means that Transpower can't de-energise both circuits - meaning one half of the tower is live and carrying a higher than normal load - while we're completing our work. Any error could result in power loss for much of the upper North Island.
We're using the latest puller/tensioner transmission stringing technology for this important work, along with constant monitoring of weather conditions and strategic placing of our specialist transmission teams to get the job done.

A large part of this project has been successful engagement with affected parties.
We've used our long-standing relationships and project management skills to liaise with stakeholders including landowners, NZTA, NZ Traffic Management, Vector, Kiwirail and more - along with our own Northpower network team and Top Energy.
