Northpower lineman on the road to recovery
The Northpower lineman who received an electric shock while working on low voltage power lines last week is now on the road to recovery.
Lee Wihone, an experienced lineman was carrying out a routine pole replacement at Waikaraka in Whangarei, when the accident occurred.
Northpower is praising the actions of his co-workers who reacted quickly, carrying out CPR until ambulance paramedics arrived.
Lee was taken to the Intensive Care Unit at Whangarei Base Hospital where he was stabilised. His condition improved considerably over the weekend with the doctors confirming that he did not have damage to his heart. Discharged on Saturday, Lee is now recovering at home.
Northpower will continue to support Lee with his rehabilitation care.
Investigations by Energy Safety, the Department of Labour and Northpower are continuing.
