Women on equal footing in electricity sector
Two former Northland women have become the first in New Zealand to qualify as cable jointers in the electricity sector.
Dargaville’s Robyn Dawes, 25, and Whangarei’s Aroha McLean, 43, both now based in Auckland, are formally certified cable jointers after three year apprenticeships.
Along the way they have broken a barrier and say they want other women to follow.
Northpower acquires Transpower asset
Northpower has taken ownership of Transpower’s two 50,000 volt electricity distribution lines between Dargaville and Maungatapere.
The asset transfer also sees Northpower take ownership of the former Transpower Dargaville substation and those assets within Transpower’s substation at Maungatapere that are dedicated to the electricity supply to Dargaville from Maungatapere.
$5 million bonus for Northpower Consumers
More than $5m is headed the way of around 50,000 Northpower consumers over the next few weeks. Included is a $1m industry rebate.
It is the second payout in three months and takes the total amount gifted this summer to more than $9m, after the Northpower Electric Power Trust (NEPT) gave every Northpower consumer in Kaipara and Whangarei an $80 tax free credit in December.
$4.3m Northpower Trust Distribution
An early Christmas present is heading the way of electricity consumers in Kaipara and Whangarei thanks to an $80 tax free credit on December power accounts.
The distribution is courtesy of the Northpower Electric Power Trust (NEPT).
It is allocated to the 54,900 power installation control points (ICPs) connected to the Northpower network as at midnight on Tuesday, December 18, 2012.
NEPT Chairman Erc Angelo says customers who do not receive the $80 credit on their next power account should contact the NEPT information line on 0800 434 100.
