This video looks at safety through the eyes of a 10 year old on his quest to find his father - a line mechanic working for Northpower - Electricity Network owner and Electricity Distribution Contractor.
He visits a number of sites, learning about safety and the dangers of electricity. He is advised of what safety precautions he must take before he can search the site for his father. He learns about the dangers his father faces everyday in his job and the importance of "keeping Dad safe".
Did you know?
When a line mechanic is in the bucket, he is insulated from the ground and when he touches the line, he is like a bird that perches on it. As long as he does not touch two lines at the same time, he is safe.
