Heated Towel Rails

Heated Towel RailsUsing energy saving heated towel rail controller can save you money Have you ever considered using a heated towel rail controller to reduce the amount of power you consumer each month? The following three examples show you how much money you could possibly save yourself, by installing a heated towel rail controller.

Running cost comparison
Based on Meridian Energy’s 24hr tariff March 2009
Watts x cost of 1 unit = Running Costs
Example 1 - 65 Watt Towel Rail
65 W running 24 hours = 1.56 kW @ 26.31 cents unit
= 41 cents per day
= $12.30 per month
By fitting a controller and heating for 3 hours in the morning (1 hour before using and 2 after) and 3 hours in the afternoon (1 hour before using and 2 after) = 6 hours.
65 W running 6 hours = 0.39 kW @ 26.31 cents
= 10 cents per day
= $3.00 per month
That is a saving of $9.30 per month or $111.60 per year.
Example 2 - 80 Watt Towel Rail
80 W running 24 hours = 1.92 kW @ 26.31
= 51 cents per day
= $15.30 per month
With controller 80 W running 6 hours = 0.48 kW @ 26.31 cents
= 13 cents per day
= $3.90 per month
That is a saving of $11.40 per month or $136.80 per year.
Example 3 - 100 Watt Towel Rail
100 W running 24 hours = 2.4 kW @ 26.31
= 63 cents per day
= $18.90 per month
With controller 100 W running 6 hours = 0.6 kW x 26.31 cents
= 16 cents per day
= $4.80 per month
That is a saving of $14.10 per month or $169.20 per year.
