Northland Electricity Helicopter Appeal - only one week to go!
Eight weeks into the 2007 Electricity Rescue Helicopter Appeal Northlanders have raised $94,900. That’s $5,000 more than at the same time during last year’s Appeal.

Northland Electricity Helicopter Appeal Update
Eight weeks into the 2007 Electricity Rescue Helicopter Appeal Northlanders have raised $94,900. That’s $5,000 more than at the same time during last year’s Appeal.

Joint sponsors, Northpower and Top Energy have put down the challenge for Northlanders to come on board and once again support this world-class emergency rescue service.

The uninterrupted supply of electricity can not be guaranteed 24 hours a day. Vehicles can hit poles, equipment can fail, and trees can fall on lines. As we have seen, the weather can wreak havoc particularly with trees, causing severe damage to the network.
Northpower lineman on the road to recovery
The Northpower lineman who received an electric shock while working on low voltage power lines last week is now on the road to recovery.
Seven stormy days
On Tuesday Northpower resumed a more normal level of operation. The focus was put on worked that required follow up after most of the known storm faults had been cleared.

At 10am today a Northpower lineman received an electric shock while working on low voltage power lines.
Northpower Electricity Supply Situation 8:30am
With all available staff including our remote teams from as far a field as Wellington working round the clock during the weekend we managed to get all main network lines operational by Saturday night. Field staff have been working to near exhaustion everyday since last Tuesday.

The situation is improving rapidly. This was a major storm and has caused widespread outages. The majority of damage has been caused by trees close to lines bringing down poles and wires which are difficult to access.

The situation continues to improve dramatically. We currently have 995 customers still affected by Northpower line faults and 800 individual customer faults.

The situation has improved very significantly so far today. The majority of damage has been caused by trees close to lines bringing down poles and wires which are difficult to access.

Northpower is concentrating on main circuits to get as many people back on as soon as possible. Unfortunately this means that smaller areas and single customer faults will take longer to get to.
Northpower Annual Report out now
This year ended with a strong financial result and saw a number of strategic milestones achieved. Financial targets were exceeded with net profits increasing by $2.7M (22%) on the previous year to $14.7M. This significant gain was due to growth on the electricity network as well as increased contracting activity.
Power cuts and electrical medical equipment
Northpower is experiencing an increasing number of calls during faults regarding customers who have electrical medical equipment. While some have been genuine, others have proven to be false or hoax calls, and have caused Northpower concern.
Northpower Ltd purchases Perth based electrical contracting company
Northland owned and operated Northpower Ltd, announced today that it has purchased West Coast Energy, an emerging Perth based electrical contracting company.
$345,000 - a record amount for the Electricity Helicopter Appeal
During a breakfast for Northland’s ‘helicopter heroes’, Electricity Rescue Helicopter joint sponsors , Northpower and Top Energy, presented the Northland Emergency Services Trust (NEST) with a cheque for $345,377.98 – the largest amount ever raised during any public appeal for helicopter service.

Northpower $6.5 million dollar line charge holiday
The Northpower ‘line charge holiday’ is here. Northpower will again, provide all consumers connected to its network with a line charge holiday, which this year totals 6.5 million dollars.
