Northpower and Top Energy the two lines companies for Northland today announced the start of the 2001 Electricity Helicopter Appeal.

Northland’s Electricity Helicopter is back providing the air rescue service for Northland.

Mark Gatland Chief Executive of Northpower said, “we have sponsored the Electricity Helicopter for the last 13 years. Northland has retained its extremely effective air rescue service backed up by the support of the community, and we will continue to facilitate this”.

Roger de Bray Chief Executive of Top Energy said, ” we attach great value to the support of this important community resource. We are delighted to show our ongoing support on behalf of the electricity customers of the mid and Far North region”

The sponsors, Top Energy and Northpower, will run the annual fund raising Appeal, which starts with the donation form being delivered to Northland homes starting next week. The Appeal will run until the end of November, and we encourage Northlanders to show their support for our local air rescue service.

“Our experience is that the Appeal is successful each year because each year the public’s recognition of the value of the Electricity Helicopter becomes greater,” said Mr Gatland. The Appeal run annually goes towards the “standing costs” of the Helicopter, such as pilots’ wages, insurance, interest on loans, and training.

“Northland’s Vital RESCUE Service - lets support it”.
