Northpower addresses Oakura fault, thanks locals
The General Manager of Northpower’s Network Division, Graham Dawson, is thanking Oakura area locals for their patience following a series of power disruptions over the weekend which culminated in a prolonged power outage this morning.

Ericsson wins Northpower GPON business
Northland, the local fibre company building the government subsidised UFB network in Whangarei has chosen Ericsson as the supplier of its GPON technology. It’s the second important UFB win for the vendor, which was selected last month to supply Chorus with 20,000km of air blown fibre.
Deal puts local UFB on fast track
Swedish communications company Ericsson have signed a deal with fibre-optics company Northpower to supply the equipment that will power a component of Whangarei’s Ultra-Fast Broadband network.
Ericsson selected by Northpower to deliver GPON Ultra-Fast Broadband connectivity to Whangarei -
- Ericsson to supply the Gigabit Passive Optical Networking - GPON - technology component to the Northpower Fibre Ultra-Fast Broadband network in Whangarei.
- GPON ‘lights the last mile’ by translating data into flashes of light for ultra-fast transmission along optical fibre.
- GPON is the main broadband access technology selected for the UFB which enables an optic fibre cable network to deliver data rich transmissions, such as interactive TV, real time video communications and professional services.
Warning as people risk fallen lines
Northpower is warning people to steer clear of fallen power lines so some unwary person’s good health doesn’t turn bad in a flash.
Public urged to stay clear of powerlines
Northlanders are being urged not to touch powerlines, following a spate of near misses.
