Northland Electricity Helicopter Appeal Update
Eight weeks into the 2007 Electricity Rescue Helicopter Appeal Northlanders have raised $94,900. That’s $5,000 more than at the same time during last year’s Appeal.
Come on board Northland…the 2007 Electricity Rescue Helicopter Appeal is now on.
Joint sponsors, Northpower and Top Energy have put down the challenge for Northlanders to come on board and once again support this world-class emergency rescue service.

The uninterrupted supply of electricity can not be guaranteed 24 hours a day. Vehicles can hit poles, equipment can fail, and trees can fall on lines. As we have seen, the weather can wreak havoc particularly with trees, causing severe damage to the network.
Northpower lineman on the road to recovery
The Northpower lineman who received an electric shock while working on low voltage power lines last week is now on the road to recovery.
Seven stormy days
On Tuesday Northpower resumed a more normal level of operation. The focus was put on worked that required follow up after most of the known storm faults had been cleared.

At 10am today a Northpower lineman received an electric shock while working on low voltage power lines.
Northpower Electricity Supply Situation 8:30am
With all available staff including our remote teams from as far a field as Wellington working round the clock during the weekend we managed to get all main network lines operational by Saturday night. Field staff have been working to near exhaustion everyday since last Tuesday.
Northpower Electricity Supply Situation 9am
The situation is improving rapidly. This was a major storm and has caused widespread outages. The majority of damage has been caused by trees close to lines bringing down poles and wires which are difficult to access.
Northpower Electricity Supply Situation 11am
The situation continues to improve dramatically. We currently have 995 customers still affected by Northpower line faults and 800 individual customer faults.
